Essential oils

It’s important to know that : If you or your pet have respiratory issues – asthma/COPD/ or other lung problems you should never use essential oils, they can trigger an attack.

In my search for insect repellants for animals & not using chemicals, I found that some scents scare
ticks/fleas & other insects off. Like citronella or tea tree. But I didn’t want to spray oils on our pets, because animals are much more sensitive to scents, a lot of oils are toxic + animals who self groom are at risk of ingesting oils.

So I started making em anti-tick collars with lava beads. Lava stones are the oldest in the world, it’s a grounding stone & stress reliever. Because they are a porous stone, they absorb oils perfectly.

Cedarwood & Lavender are natural insecticides & above all safe for pets. That still means you should Never use any essential oil for/in/around or on eyes,ears,nose, mouth or genitalia. Oils are also Not for oral use, people or pets.

How to store :

Keep your essential oils in a cool & dry location, away from direct sunlight. Never forget to seal the bottle when not in use. Always store them safely, a locked cabinet is best, well out of your pet’s or kid’s reach!

As long as they’re treated & stored properly, lavender’s shelf life is 3-4 years & cedarwood’s shelf life 4-5 years.

I wouldn’t use diffusers with pets in your home, they are much more sensitive to scents. What’s pleasing to you, can be uncomfortable & overwhelming for them + as I already mentioned: most essential oils are toxic to pets. They are toxic whether applied to skin/fur or diffusers. Especially for cats.

Cats lack an essential enzyme in their liver. This is the enzyme responsible for detoxing the liver. Therefore, cats take longer to metabolize essential oils & can easily get a build up of harmful toxins in their system. Birds for instance have a very sensitive respiratory tract, so no diffusers with pets in your home.
